If you’d like to know why, please read on.
While, in the past, we have served steaks on weekend nights, this has always been secondary to our main business, which is barbecue. We have always strived to serve up the highest quality meats and that included steaks.
Right now, the steaks we purchase are much more expensive than they were. We only buy fresh, not frozen, and we have a dedicated grill master at the grill for every steak night. The menu price for our steaks would have to be much higher than what we have marked them in the past, that’s just the unfortunate reality of the market, not how we would like to have it. Many who previously enjoyed steak night would likely turn away from the high cost in favor of big chains who do offer steak much cheaper than we could. They have a lot of buying power, leverage, lower-quality (though not bad) meats, and likely not a hand-fed, open wood-fire grill. Not only is this entire offering expensive for us to do, but the volume of customers in the evening is unpredictable due to the pandemic. So, we know y’all want steaks, we know y’all miss the steak nights, but we are doing the best we can with the information and resources that we have. We hope that you’ll still enjoy our barbecue, this is what we started with, and it’s the very core of the Longhorn.
